Brush up those skills: Skin care expert and makeup artist, explained to the audience the importance of choosing the right shades for one’s skin tone when putting on makeup and the correct application methods. Doctor also demonstrated a step-by-step guide to get perfect Smokey eyes. ‘If you want a black, brown or grey Smokey effect, apply the liner in that colour on the upper lashes, drawing a thicker line towards the middle of the eye. If you’re opting for a jewel-toned palette, line the eyes with a blue, purple or deep- green liner,’ doctor explained. Doctor advised women against using colour palettes manufactured abroad as they’re meant for different skin types.

Makeup artist, provided tips on how to do a quick job at applying makeup in her workshop, “10 makeup tricks”. ‘using a base cream instead of foundation is always advisable,’ doctor said, before adding, ‘foundation tends to rob one’s skin of moisture and make the skin look flaky a lot of times. The base cream, followed by face powder, is an easy way to provide base when in a hurry.’ this, combined with quick sweeps of blusher, gloss, kohl and eye liner, and you are ready to go-whether it be lunch or dinner.

Bring out that complexion: doctor, director and consultant dermatologist-Derma and surgery clinic, covered a vast range of topics on the last day of the show. Doctor spoke about skin-whitening and complete skin care. Addressing the growing demand of skin-whitening products in India, doctor argued that Indian complexion doesn’t require such products, unless suggested by one’s doctor to cure dark spots. A few other workshops that doctor addressed tackled skin problems like anti-ageing, dark
circles and baggy under-eyes, combination skin, excessive darkness and dark spots.

Doctor also spoke of the various ways in which one can take care of one’s body, face, hands and legs. Loofahs, masks, exfoliators, cleansing, toning and moisturising-all of this and more, discussed in great detail, sent home an educated and satisfied audience.

TLC for your hair: doctor conducted a workshop that discussed the ways one can protect one’s hair. “TLC for your hair”, a hit among men and women alike, stressed on the importance of umbrellas and scarves for hair protection from the UV rays of the sun. ‘If you thought that it was just your skin that is impacted by the sun’s rays, think again. Hair is as susceptible to damage from the sun as one’s skin is, ’she said.

For those who want long, black tresses, oil could be the answer! ’ weekly massages with coconut oil help you develop a healthy mane. Use hot oil for dry hair, ’said doctor. However, oil shouldn’t be kept in the hair for long, as it weakens the roots.

Under the sun: doctor held a workshop emphasizing protection from sun. ‘sunscreen is a must for people of all ages .if it isn’t a regular feature of your beauty regime already ,then you should incorporate it and use it daily ,’she said. Sunscreen shouldn’t be applied just on the face and neck, but on the whole body. Doctor said that even when the skin’s covered, the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun can penetrate the fabric, and age and tan the skin. ’once you have applied the sunscreen, give it 15 minutes to be absorbed by the skin before you step out of your house.’
During winter, you can use sunscreen lotions and creams, but choose a water-based, gel sunscreen during summers since cream-based sunscreens tend to get washed away by sweat. Take-away: sunscreen is a must-use through the year.
